Design Story

The wraparound composition is built like a cathedral panel. A deep crimson field runs the full vertical, framed by dense gold-toned ivy scrollwork that thins toward the centre and thickens at the edges — a deliberate movement from ornament to clarity. At the optical centre sits the black shield bearing the white and crimson G, the strongest contrast point on the surface, with 1785 set beneath it like a foundation stone. Below, the words BETWEEN THE HEDGES are stacked in three calm lines, letting negative space carry the phrase rather than force it. The lower band returns to pattern, with a small engraved stadium silhouette closing the composition. Red and clear faceted accents punctuate the vertical axis, guiding the eye upward without disrupting the hierarchy.
