Design Story

The hierarchy here is genuinely well built. An arched "UNIVERSITY OF KENTUCKY" curves over the interlocking UK monogram, which sits dead center inside a thin gold ring — that's your focal panel, and your eye lands there first every time. Below it, a ribbon banner carries "KENTUCKY WILDCATS," then a smaller "EST. 1865" plaque, then a "LIMITED EDITION" cartouche near the base. Three descending text weights, perfectly stacked. The clever move is the lower third: gold seam lines curve across the body to suggest basketball paneling without ever drawing a literal ball. Gold on black does the rest — high contrast, zero noise, and a decorative border near the rim that ties the crest to the lid line.
